Elmer is the main antagonist of Aqua Teen Forever: Plantasm, and the creator of the Vine Monsters.
Appearance[]
In his human form, Neil is a red-haired Caucasian man with an almost afro-like hairdo. He wears a lavender shirt that's tucked under his brown shorts, a purple tie, a white lab coat with rolled up sleeves, and bright yellow Crocs.
In his tree form, however, his hair is made into green and yellow leaves, his skin is entirely bark, and he lacks clothing, save for leaves that cover up his genitals and shoulders, and vines that go over his legs and chest.
Biography[]
Elmer was Neil's most reliable assistant until Neil met Frylock. After Frylock was critically injured by gangsters, he was creates a "tech suit" made of Bro-tanium (aluminum foil) for him to replace his old box that was torn up when he was jumped. Later, he betrays Neil for Big Neil because of how he treated him, and he locks Neil in a box where he stays for the rest of the movie. Later, after being fired from Amazin' by Big Neil, he eats some of the "enviromentally friendly" cardboard and drinks all of the water from a nearby fountain and quickly turns into a giant tree monster. As a tree monster, he renames himself Elm. After the Moon is used to block out the sun, he was killed by Shake, Meatwad, Carl, and several (likely all) of the Fraptaculans and Japongaloids that Neil enslaved.
Personality[]
Depicted as a stereotypical nerd, Elmer is a technical bio-engineering genius, but he lacks in social skills as told by Neil. However, he seems to be more intelligent about people than he lets on. Elmer seems to have anticipated being fired from Amazin'; hence, the seeds in the cardboard could also transform him into a giant tree monster as a backup plan.
However, Elmer appears to be reasonably loyal and obedient to Neil up to the point that Big Neil replaced the original Neil. He seemed to endure a lot of abuse from Neil over an implied period of many years.
Elmer also appears to have a tendency to be inappropriately distracted by his scientific observations. He was incredibly impressed with Frylock's laser vision and immediately remarked the technical jargon "light amplified by stimulated emission of radiation" (from which the acronym laser is derived).
Once he undergoes his transformation into a giant tree monster, Elmer appears to become megalomaniac, though his plans for the new world order seem largely (or at least partially) premeditated.
Elmer appears to be overly cautious, perhaps to the point of having anxieties. He is also meticulous in how much he planned ahead for world domination. He seemingly was only stopped once Frylock and the two Neils caused a total solar eclipse at a point when it seemed all hope was lost for Shake, Meatwad, and Carl.
Trivia[]
- According to the Director's commentary, a crew member had a family member named "Elmer," but the writing staff did not intend for the character to be named after a real person.
